Delivering Care to Meet Basic Health Needs – Unfolding the Magic in Listening

We believe it is a basic human right for all persons, especially children, to have the opportunity to thrive. Through special outreach events and collaborative efforts with county department of health services, we strengthen service delivery through capacity building of health care workers to provide a comprehensive package of care by holistic history taking during first interaction with the client to enable accurate and timely diagnosis, effective treatment plans and improved patient outcomes by fostering trust and understanding.

Our Holistic Approach

This skill provides a holistic view of the patient's health, incorporating their lifestyle and environmental factors, thus enabling provision of comprehensive care package that includes mental health and violence response based on WHO recommended minimum package. This builds a strong patient-provider relationship, making the patients' healthcare journey more effective and smoother.

LEGAL AID & MEDIATION SERVICES

Legal Aid and Mediation Services

Majority of Kenyans are unable to access justice due to various reasons including socio-economic challenges, lack of legal knowledge, political among others. The indigent remains lack of awareness of legal rights, lack of knowledge of the court system, or simply experience of unending frustrations while seeking to access justice.

Legal Framework

The Legal Aid Act was enacted in Kenya in 2016 to provide a framework for collaboration between state and non-state actors in legal aid service provision. It further established legal aid scheme that is affordable, accessible, sustainable, credible and accountable. At DISEFO, we believe in innovative efforts to provide inclusive access to justice, particularly for the poor and marginalized communities.

Our Services

Mediation services are facilitated at DISEFO as an alternative dispute resolution initiative especially in civil cases. Both legal aid and alternative justice system are imperative as they set in place legal and policy framework for the promotion and access to justice in vulnerable communities. It is hoped that these practices will encourage and stimulate an empowered community in justice system.

SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE PROGRAM

Sustainable Farming to Counter Malnutrition and Poverty

At DISEFO we believe that stability in providing food sources is essential for human life, but can be a challenge in low resource settings due to lack of knowledge in land usage and farming. We are committed to work with small scale farmers to promote sustainable agro diverse crops most suited for climate and soil conditions of the region.

Our Focus Areas

The focus is on: choosing well adoptable plants for the region, cultivating fast growing crops with nutritious content to overcome malnutrition, especially for women and children and diversify crop varieties which can provide alternate benefits beyond food consumption such as medicinal remedies, water purification.
